"The hotel is located a bus ride (7 mins) away from Chur train station and is easy to find as it towers across the whole town. It's nice and modern with a welcoming reception. Although I had a problem with the Booking travel website not passing on the correct info, the team at the hotel were able to sort out a room change easily beforehand. Upon arrival, check-in was simple and swift. There was a wheeled trolley sitting by the front door to take luggage, so easy to get things to the room via the two lifts. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were really thin, so we needed more, only there were no spares in the room. MAJOR ISSUE FOR FOREIGN TRAVELLERS Our biggest problem was that the plugs in the walls do not allow for travel adapters to be used. Each plug is made to allow 3 x euro 2 pin plugs to be inserted into the 1 gang socket but the shape does not allow you to insert an adaptor. This makes the room almost unusable if you do not have native 2 pin powered equipment. There was only one socket that was shaped to allow a travel adaptor and this was on the writing desk. This meant you can only charge one thing at a time which is crazy if you have laptops or mobile phones that need charging. Also it means that you are not able to dry your hair and look in the mirror at the same time. The mirror is in the bathroom and nowhere near the socket. I seriously can't believe that this is the case as a major oversight in the design, considering it's a hotel with travelling guests from all over the world. Also to note, although the room has a hob, there is no crockery, cutlery or utensils for cooking. I appreciate that they probably don't want people cooking smelly food, but with young children, we wanted to take food back to the room to eat, and this was then an issue. The staff are friendly, and the restaurant has a nice complement of food available for breakfast so all in all a nice stay with the only points being deducted for not having the eating apparatus and the pillows. The hotel sits on top of the shopping centre, so it is perfect for getting pretty much most things you would need, from food to a chemist to clothes and toys, etc. Just make sure you check the opening hours, as they shut early. I would stay here again but, upon arrival, ask for all the bits that are missing from the room and would also need to take a euro power extension lead so we could use the power sockets in the room."

"I had got there with my kid who was accidentally not registered but they didn’t create a fuss for that, which was an impressive quality in hospitality business. I’m impressed. Then the receptionist was very helpful with all my travel questions. One receptionist had also cleaned my floor late night when my kid dropped a tea cup made of glass by mistake. I was very impressed by their behaviour and capability. Amazing views from all their rooms! Well managed hotel. No tension if you want to eat or shop, mall is inside. It’s a one stop Hotel I must say. Thank you hope to visit again!"

"As a frequent traveler, I stay in many hotels across the world and have always found stains and dirt in toilet seats and stray hairs on surfaces or in their crevices, so inspecting my room is the first thing I do upon walking in. I was expecting the same disappointment here, as I have just come from a Sheraton where I was utterly horrified by the cleanliness of my room. To my surprise, the toilet seat was clean and so was everything else--not a single strand of hair, fortunately! The staff were also warm and hospitable, especially Gian-Luca and the lady whose name I forget but who helped us with our luggage for safekeeping before check-out. The other two ladies at reception on our second day also greeted us with smiles. This made our stay a good experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back in the near future."

"Our stay was great! The young lady at the front desk was fantastic and able to answer answer all our questions! I wish I could remember her name, but she was very kind and extremely helpful! The room and view were great as well! Our only regret is we didn't get more time there, as we checked in late, and had to leave very early for a train. "Room is big enough and clean. I like the toiletries. The breakfast is very poor for a 4 stars hotel, I asked the lady to make a fried eggs but she doesn’t want to make it. At 8 am there are no croissant plain, I asked the lady for croissant and she answered “there are no plain croissant anymore, you can it another’s, if I make it for you it’s take 20 minutes in the oven.” I am not happy with this answer, so I went, I just had a cup of tea and one small bread."

I am a wheelchair user and stayed in the wheelchair friendly room and everything was fine for me, the only thing I would say is that I would of preferred a proper shower seat rather than a stool, but saying that I had no issues using the stool."

"when I booked the hotel I paid 191.45 CHF -08.06., then during the check-in process the hotel required me to pay a deposit 60 CHF and after leaving my account was deducted another 15 CHF for parking. My total expenses were 266.45 CHF, but hotel invoice -206.45 CHF. Why did you take the 60 CHFwithout giving a reason? I have all the documents and I am ready to provide them."

"Took 13 hours flight, landed in the early morning in Zurich and took 2 hours train to Chur. I tried to ask the staff if it possible to check in earlier. However, the staff said the check in time is 3pm. The staff never try to see any other way to let us rest earlier. For example, other rooms or extra payment to check in earlier. They just never try to be helpful and I don’t feel welcome by the staff. He only keep saying the check in time is 3pm.. And then I was asking the iron to iron my husband’s suit. They said all are occupied. I can bring down the suit for them to iron for me but I need to pay for that. ( so it’s hotel’s problem they don’r have iron for me and they asked me for charges if they iron for me..) Glad that I only stayed for one night. Definitely will not come back."

"firstly there are no directions from Chur West train staition, or any mention of which direction to go in for any of the hotels...certainly no taxis Arrived after walking in the end from Chur West station via mobile phone through the industrial estate, up and down steps with bags....not ideal. The man behind the desk suggested it was mainly a hotel for business, hence no signs! We were given a room right above the open skylight of the restaurant which we were told was closed the first night, but when we could hear guests chatting and laughing from there in our room we went to investigate....confused. only open for package deal guests it seems.....fine but do not put us in view or sound of it when we have been told its not open!!! No English TV....was never sorted in the 3 nights we were there, even though promised. Really totally underwhelmed and felt very unwelcome as English. Breakfast on the last day was run by one lady who was trying to make a pan of scrambed eggs whilst also coffee and greet people, as the coffee machine had broken. Burnt , congealed eggs was all that was on offer that day....and a long wait for coffee. In all the hotels on our trip to Switzerland, it was the most underwhelming and most unwelcome. Glad we were not in a hurry. Even the only picture in the corporate room was a slice of tree...not even the beautiful city of Chur."

"We booked 2 rooms at the Mercure City west in Chur, in one of the rooms the comforter had blood stains, this was very unpleasant, the rooms were large and comfortable but not clean, the pillows were not comfortable and the breakfast was very bad, and we paid 25 CHF for each ,the front desk was not friendly and unapologetic when we told them about the blood stains on the comforter. We can not recommend this Mercure Hotel in Chur, we have stayed in several Mercure Hotels in this trip and they have been good, unfortunately not this one."

"Check in/out was good and reception staff were informative. No warmth, just practical, which was fine. Well located for transport. Good size and furnished bathroom and good room size and organise room. Lumpy bed and the pillow was a wide clump of material that needed to be folded or bunched up if you wanted anything but flat. I ended up putting the chair cushions under it. A standard pillow would be my preference. Breakfast range was enjoyable but staff were not. The main woman didn’t speak any English, which is fine but there was no warmth, service or effort to communicate. Asking for coffee or egg seemed to be a burden. The breakfast room on the first morning was hot but we weren’t allowed to sit on the lovely terrace. The woman wasn’t suited to the hospitality/service industry, in my opinion. Would I stay again? No, because of the bed mainly."
