Check-in 3.00 pm/ Check-out 11.00 am. How to get there - by train: From the railway station, walk along the Bahnhofstrasse to Postplatz, turn left and continue to the first roundabout, turn right and after 20 metres you will find the hotel. By car: Take the "Chur Nord" motorway exit, continue along Masanserstrasse for approx. 2 km, turn into the Old Town, the Hotel Stern is on the left.

"Combine charm, understated elegance, perfect location in the old town, and friendly staff = Hotel Stern Chur. I loved walking everywhere, including the stunning churches and art museum. Easy stroll to the train station (starting point for the Bernina Express train - glorious - and so many other nearby destinations.) The sumptuous breakfast starts early enough that you can enjoy that before setting out. I had a delicious dinner in the charming restaurant, with Swiss specialties in an authentic Swiss atmosphere. The guest rooms have every convenience -- and yet are cozy. This hotel is a gem!"

"What a wonderful hotel. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was generous in size and very comfortable. "Food, service, and location were excellent. We, as well as our guests, were very happy. We would like to especially thank the effort put in by service even though our answers were late and, perhaps, somewhat unusual. Special thanks for helping us during our decoration preparation, for taking care of the bride and assisting her. If we had a plan to get married again, we'll have you in mind 😄 And we'd like the same staff (apprentice) to be there with us (she was great and lovely!). Excellent, especially the meat was very nice. We didn't stay at the hotel, so we can only speak of the Aperó and the lunch set."

"We have been staying every year at the Stern for around 20 years to enjoy the cooking in the Wild Saison, but were unable to come for 3 years following the Covid problem. We like the excellent service and good team spirit of all of the staff, and love the old world charm of the hotel's setting in the Chur Altstadt. Also, the hotel's Veltliner restaurant has particularly attractive and traditional Swiss Wood Panelling décor, and a delightful ambience. However be sure to book the restaurant well in advance, as it is very popular with the local people of Chur! We came back in October 2023 to see if the hotel and restaurant were as good as before Covid, and are very pleased say that they were as good as ever. As above A fridge was the only thing missing AS above"

"The only small issue, and it was partly my fault. I turned on the clothes heater in the bathroom to dry some clothes, but I didn't do it properly. And, although I turned it off, it kept coming on again. Perhaps some clearer directions are needed for dumb Americans. :)"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was really good and well presented. "Enjoyed our stay. When we checked in a very sweet young man helped us. He said we had been upgraded to a king bed. However, we found out that just meant two twin beds pushed together. It was rather hard to cuddle as the beds slowly slid apart. Very sweet lady in breakfast room. Pleased with room and staff! Very sweet lady in breakfast room. As Americans used to eggs and bacon, the soft boiled egg just did not cut it. However, there was much other to choose from. Good location. Clean and comfortable. Clean and comfortable except for the twin beds pushed together to make a king. For a very old hotel, everything was clean, updated and comfortable."

"Our stay was too short, wish we stayed longer. The room we stayed in was very nice, comfortable and clean. The staff were all ver friendly and helpful. "The staff are efficient, friendly and polite and were able to meet all my requests. Special thanks to the Staff Member who printed out my return Boarding Pass (some lesser Hotels have point blank refused such requests). Liked the touches in the room, e.g. water and chocolates plus the tea/coffee making equipment. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection, including the scrambled eggs. Keep with the 0630 start time every day! The room description was small, economy, and so it proved! However, knowing that beforehand makes it better. The lighting in the room and bathroom needs upgrading, e.g. brighter bulb in the bedroom and an additional light over the toilet (the shower was a bit dark). Good location in Chur and a quiet one too. Perhaps next time I can get a ride in the car. Liked the two doors to Room 314! I will return, provided the price is right. Some of the best I have encountered. See above Good location. See above. As I only use the Room to sleep in, the size was not too much of a problem. See above"

One suggestion is to consider glass enclosures in the showers as the curtains cling to you when showering in such a small space. "Michelle, on reception, welcomed me to your hotel and she was most attentive to my needs. Room 152 was clean and comfortable, but very small, later I was moved to room 234, which was splendid for me. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and the waitresses were lovely. My one evening meal was delicious but I was shocked to be charged 5CHF for a carafe of water. Chur is a city of many water fountains and it did not seem to fit the ethos of the city to charge for water. I most certainly would recommend the Hotel Stern. It is a really central position to the old town and also the hospital. I found I was not the only wife staying there who had a husband ill in hospital. I saw that everyone worked very hard, but still managed to be pleasant to the clientele. My breakfast was enjoyable. An excellent position in the city. Rather warm in Room 152, much better in Room 234. When there were holidays from Riviera Travel and also Great Rail Journeys, the tourists often came to the wrong dining room for breakfast, but the staff dealt with this in a good humoured fashion."

"We had an event with 45 people at GartenAtalier at Domant/Ems. Hotel Stern did the catering. From planning to perfect execution the whole experience was superb. The food, the service and management of the event was excellent. It is unusual to have a dinner with many people and have the food uniformly tasty, right temperatures and well served. "As a group of 18 we enjoyed our stay, the location is perfect, the staff fantastic an welcoming and the food was also very good. The only improvement I can say is that with groups, each person or couple had quite different rooms allocated to them, some had fridges and some didn't, so please look at making each room have the same amenities. We understand with the historic nature of the building air conditioning isn't available, we visited during a 30 degree heatwave and he staff were very helpful in providing us fans in the bedrooms great service from everyone -especially Monique in the restaurants and Adrian looked after our group throughout The meal on the first night was superb, and breakfast each day had a great selection. A couple of my clients did not like the fondue on the final evening (I did!) but maybe we review this before our next tour great traditional hotel in a perfect location - see comments above regarding room amenities (difficult in a group as one person always points out what the have and then the others tell you they didn't have it in their room!) depending on where your room is located each have their own style and amenities. great ambience in all areas of the hotel"

"Greatly appreciated the personal touch, the handwritten welcome message, and in general the very pleasant interaction with staff at the hotel. I think the breakfast we had was of excellent quality, the portions were just right. All freshly cooked eggs (scrambled, fried eggs) were of top quality, and the care with which they had been made was visible. Lasting impression: that we were staying in a friendly hotel, not in any 'usual' non-personal hotel. My special thanks to the staff at the reception desk, who helped us in all our queries in a friendly way, and always with a smile on their faces. Hope we didn't take up too much of their time. Excellent quality and fresh, made and served with much care. Excellent All was perfect. The level of care was clear, in the chocolates, the bottles of water, tea bags, cream for the tea, information, and most importantly the welcome card. Some coffee satches would also have been good for coffee drinkers, I am not one of them, so it didn't matter for me. Very friendly"
